Dear ERAPPA Members,

I hope you all have been doing well and are staying safe during this uncertain time.

It is hard to believe we are coming up on a year of this altered reality caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year we were cautiously optimistic that we could safely resume our usual face-to-face offerings in 2021. Since then, the Board has been working closely with the 2021 Host Committee Chairs and Conference Planner about the potential success of our fall annual conference. While there does appear to be hope on the horizon as vaccines become available and states announce updated reopening plans, many institutions still have bans on non-essential travel and travel/professional development budgets are among the first to be put on hold as we continue to navigate through this unprecedented time. As such, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel our 2021 Annual Meeting. To give DVAPPA an opportunity to hold a successful conference and not wait the usual 9-year cycle, we have rescheduled DVAPPA’s hosting to 2024. This also allows for the next three consecutive years to continue their momentum and maintain contracts that are already in place.

ERAPPA 2021 welcome
From Jon and Leslie

When we gathered in Erie, PA for the ERAPPA 2019 Annual Conference, little did we know the challenges 2020 would bring just a few months later. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in different ways, but it has been heartening to see the entire APPA community come together in support of one another throughout this difficult time. For institutions large and small, it has surely demonstrated the value of being part of a strong professional community.

That is why we are so excited to announce the launch of the ERAPPA 2021 Annual Conference, coming October 3 rd -6 th in Valley Forge, PA. We hope this year will be an ideal opportunity to come together once again to discuss lessons learned, share new best practices, and to strengthen and renew the bonds that have always made ERAPPA such a vibrant organization.

Our theme, “Lead to Inspire,” was chosen before the pandemic struck but nevertheless perfectly captures what we have all seen to be true: that there is much inspiration to be found in the leadership demonstrated by professionals during this period,

We hope to make the ERAPPA 2021 Annual Conference even more collaborative than usual, a place where we can all connect and weave our stories together. There will be ample opportunities to strengthen and build your ERAPPA network, ranging from the Hall of Resources with new interactive features and signature conference social events that will make the most of the area’s many nearby amenities. By maximizing the number of scholarships available, we want to ensure all our Institutional members, regardless of their financial circumstances, can apply for and attend this inspiring ERAPPA conference

On behalf of DVAPPA and our host committee, we are looking forward to welcoming you all to Valley Forge October 2021. Be sure to visit the conference website for additional information
and stay tuned for further updates as they become available.
